Shown on the official website of International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the Focus Group on Quantum Information Technology for Networks (FG-QIT4N) has been officially established. FG-QIT4N is also the world’s first quantum information technology standards study group covering quantum computing, quantum communication, quantum precision measurement and quantum information networks. According to the website, Professor Zhang Qiang at the University of Science and Technology of China will serve as the co-chairman of FG-QIT4N, and the US and Russia will also recommend co-chair candidates respectively. The main objectives of FG-QIT4N are to organize and coordinate the standardization projects within ITU, and harmonize other standardization organizations to build an open platform for global quantum information standardization, thus boosting the efficient and orderly development of standardization work.
