In the morning of 27th April 2016, President Xi came to the Institute of Advanced Technology of the University of Science and Technology of China to watch the display of technical products of high tech enterprises and talk with the staff of the institute and the enterprise. He also asked about the process of the research, transformation of science and technology achievements and application prospects. The Party Secretary saw the display of research findings of quantum communication and other findings of quantum information science. He also went to the general command center of the Beijing-Shanghai quantum cryptography communication line to learn about the construction of quantum communication network. In the general command center, Pan Jianwei, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced their work. Party Secretary Xi praised them for the research and development of quantum communication, saying that “it is promising and important.” He said that these scientific achievements showed the quick development, huge efforts and great achievements of the academicians in advancing this emerging industry. He also said to technological staff that Hefei was a good place to “nurture” people as it has fostered so many outstanding talents. It was a heaven for innovation. He hoped that all researchers could make concerted effort to make more progress and make innovations with joy.
